Why The Modern World Needs Human Rights
In the age of globalization, most people would normally say we no longer need human rights organizations . On the contrary, these world human rights organizations are not only essential but critical in this era. Crimes against humanity and human rights violations are still rampant in this society and are unchecked and unaccounted for. The decade of 2010s saw major crimes being committed against political dissidents and minorities that are still looking for justice in the international system. The abduction of schoolgirls by Boko Haram highlighted the plight of young girls in Nigeria who suffer from the militant insurgency. The conquest of Iraq and Syria by ISIS saw great repression of women by the militant outfits who proceeded to commit a mass genocide of the Yazidi minority. The Yazidi women were sold into sexual slavery and the Shias were massacred as heretics.
